What is the Fediverse?

The Fediverse is a giant network of social media platforms that are decentralized and federating.

The Join Fediverse Wiki

The Join Fediverse Wiki is a Wikipedia-style online encyclopedia about the Fediverse.
It is meant to inform people who never heard about the Fediverse before and/or might want to join it, about it's basics.
But it's also a general knowledge database that advanced Fediverse users can be interested in.

I started the wiki on January 1st, 2022 and now it has hundreds of pages in 7 different languages.

The Climate Justice Instances

I'm hosting two Mastodon/Fediverse instances about climatejustice:

• climatejustice.global is for activist groups
• climatejustice.social is for everyone else part of the movement (individuals, parties, small companies, etc.)

These two instances I host using my own money. But I would like to create a club in Vienna, Austria for it, to have a legal structure behind the instances and an official club bank account. The Fediverse Foundation

I co-founded the Fediverse Foundation, a club in Vienna operating worldwide, in 2023. This club is for the following, rather unpolitical Mastodon servers:

• wien.rocks an instance for the city of Vienna, Austria
• tyrol.social an instance for Tyrol, Austria
• fedi.at an instance for all of Austria
• mtg.garden an instance about the trading card game Magic the Gathering
• social.fairphone.community an instance for the Fairphone community
